About ITEP
The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, launched to enhance the quality of teacher education across the country. Introduced by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) on 26th October 2021, ITEP is a four-year integrated undergraduate degree that prepares professionally trained teachers as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The programme combines education with a chosen discipline such as Language, Science, Mathematics, Social Science, or Commerce, enabling students to gain both subject expertise and pedagogical skills. It follows a multidisciplinary approach covering Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), Inclusive Education, ECCE, and Indian values and ethos, while fostering innovation and research in teaching.
ITEP equips future teachers to handle all four stages of school education — Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary (5+3+3+4) — and will become the minimum qualification for teachers by 2030.
Panchayat College, Bargarh will offer ITEP (Secondary) from the academic session 2026–27, with B.A. B.Ed. and B.Com. B.Ed. streams. Admissions will be made through the national-level entrance test conducted by NTA, and the college will ensure a learning environment aligned with national standards.
